Rev. Dr.Rev. Dr. Sally Palmer in the Canterbury Pulpit WYOMING STATE DAY:  A  SUMMARY

Rev. Dr. Sally Palmer offered a sermon at the Washington National Cathedral on January 25, 2004.  This date was chosen as "Wyoming State Day" and welcomed an occasion for those with Wyoming heritage to gather and worship  at the "House of Prayer for All People" in Washington, D.C.

Rev. Palmer, pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Laramie, Wyoming presented a sermon entitled: "In the Sound and Fury of the World", based on Luke 4:14-21.  The Right Reverend Bruce Caldwell, Episcopal Bishop of the Diocese of Wyoming, officiated at the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

Rev. Palmer was chosen for this honor by the Wyoming Association of Churches because of her ecumenical commitment around the state and her educational experience at the university. A delegation of approximately thirty persons traveled to Washington D.C. for this important occasion. The National Cathedral honors each state once every four years.  The celebration on January 25th was the first time a local pastor from Wyoming preached at the Cathedral.

The event was celebrated by the cathedral staff, by many persons from D.C. and  Wyoming, and by Diana and Senator Mike Enzi who ably represented the Wyoming congregressional delegation.
